Sign Language for Preschooler's

Whether you have a preschooler who signed as a baby and is now ready for more advanced signing or you have a child who is new to sign language this is a great time to begin a more advanced language study. After years of research linguists have concluded that sign language is in fact a language all its own. That means that a child that learns sign language will have the benefits of a second language and for those parents out there who only speak English this is an opportunity to teach your child another language fluently while already having a grasp of the grammatical nuances. Here are some links to get you started:

www.signmedia.com/info/asl.htm Explains the research on the validity of sign language as a second language.

www.lifeprint.com A great ASL dictionary with video's of signs as well as free lessons!

http://asl.ms/ Sign language phrase site! This is a great tool for preschoolers looking to expand from single words and two word combinations to phrases and sentences.
